Four common methods of air disinfection?

1. Oxidants: commonly used peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine dioxide, ozone, etc. They cause oxidation and death of microorganisms through oxidation-reduction reactions with proteins, enzymes and lipids in microorganisms.

2. Reducing agent: Commonly used reducing compounds such as sulfur dioxide and sodium chlorite. They react with active substances (such as glutathione) in microorganisms, reducing the microorganisms and losing their activity.

3. Surfactants: Commonly used include quaternary ammonium salt compounds, biguanide compounds, etc. They reduce the surface tension of bacteria, causing them to become inactive or dissolved.


2. Physical disinfection

1. Ultraviolet disinfection: Ultraviolet light is a kind of electromagnetic wave that has a bactericidal effect. Ultraviolet sterilizers mainly use the energy of ultraviolet photons to destroy the nucleic acids of microorganisms, thereby killing microorganisms.

2. Ozone disinfection: Ozone is a strong oxidant and has a bactericidal effect. Ozone sterilizer mainly uses the strong oxidizing property of ozone to kill microorganisms.

3. Electrostatic adsorption: The electrostatic adsorption sterilizer mainly uses the principle of electrostatic adsorption to charge dust and bacteria in the air and then adsorb them to the electrodes.

3. Biological disinfection

Biological disinfection uses the competitive relationship between microorganisms to achieve the effect of removing or killing microorganisms by using one or more microorganisms to inhibit another or multiple microorganisms. Commonly used biological disinfection methods include:

1. Bacteria culture: By cultivating specific strains of bacteria to make them dominant in the environment, thereby inhibiting the growth of other microorganisms.

2. Mixing of bacterial strains: Mixing two or more different bacterial strains together can promote or inhibit the growth of each other, thus adjusting the microbial community structure of the environment.


4. Disinfection of plant essential oils

Plant essential oil is a natural compound extracted from plants, which has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and other effects. Studies have shown that certain plant essential oils (such as lavender essential oil, thyme essential oil, etc.) can inhibit or kill some plant bacteria and oil virus disinfectants. The methods are:

1. Distillation method: Soak plant materials in water, heat and distill, and collect the essential oil components in the distillate.

2. Pressing method: Mash the plant material, filter it with a cloth bag, and collect the essential oil components in the filtrate.

3. Soaking method: Soak plant materials in solvents such as ethanol, and then distill, filter or extract.

Among the above four disinfection methods, the chemical disinfection method has the advantages of being fast, efficient, and easy to operate, but it is easy to cause pollution to the environment and human body; the physical disinfection method has the advantages of environmental protection and safety, but the equipment cost is high; the biological disinfection method is environmentally friendly , safety and other advantages, but the effect is slow; the plant essential oil disinfection method has the advantages of being natural and environmentally friendly, but it needs to select appropriate essential oil ingredients for different viruses and bacteria. In practical applications, appropriate disinfection methods need to be selected based on specific needs and conditions.
